400 gramfish-fillets-cut-into-2-inch-pieces
1/2 numberjuice-of-lemon
1 1/2 table-spoonsalt-to-taste
1 table-spoonturmeric-powder
1 table-spoonred-chilli-powder
2 table-spoonginger-garlic-paste-2
2 mediumfried-onions
4 table-spoonyogurt
3 table-spooncashewnuts-poppy-seeds-sunflower-seeds-paste
2 numbergreen-chillies-roughly-chopped
1 1/2 table-spooncinnamon-powder
1/2 table-spoonblack-pepper-powder
1/2 table-spoongaram-masala-powder
1 1/2 table-spoonkewra-water

Saffron marinated fish fillets cooked in a rich and flavorful gravy..

  1. Put fish pieces in a bowl, add salt,, saffron strands, lemon juice, turmeric powder, red chilli powder and 1 tablespoon ginger-garlic paste and mix well. Set aside to marinate for at least 40 minutes.
  2. Heat oil in a wok and fry onions, ginger -garlic paste till the onions turn golden brown
  3. Mix the fried onion-ginger- garlic with the yogurt; add a pinch of sugar and dilute with a little water and blend into a smooth paste.
  4. Heat oil in a non-stick pan. Add green chillies, saffron strands and salt and sauté for half a minute. Add marinated fish pieces and cook on high heat till fish becomes soft on both the sides.
  5. Heat oil/ghee in another non-stick pan, add the ground paste and cashewnuts-poppy seeds-sunflower seeds paste and mix well. Add ½ cup water and mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes.
  6. Add the prepared fish pieces to the gravy and mix well. Add 2 tsp ground cinnamon powder, garam masala powder and pepper powder. Cover and cook on low heat till the fish is done.
  7. Add kewra water.
  8. Garnish with fried onions.
